Paediatrics & Child Health
April 2003 . Volume 8 . Supplement A
This study examines trends in paediatric prescribing in Canada based on an administrative database of 4,000,000 claims for one million children during a 12-month period.
Among the key findings is a quantification of drugs prescribed to children outside of the approved age ranges. This study is one tool in the effort to increase research into the appropriate use of drugs in the youngest fraction of the population.
The study received support from Health Canada and the Canadian Paediatric Society and was published in the Paediatrics and Child Health journal.
